Young Artists†is a collaboration between Cristina Medrano and Amanda Landaverde. Amanda and Cristina both utilize digital media and more traditional media in their individual work and were inspired to synthesize these two worlds of media in their show. The two were also influenced by surrealist artists such as Salvador DalÃ, René Magritte, Vladimir Kush, Marcel Duchamp, Hannah Hoch, and Max Ernst.
This special show will be exhibited for four weekends (November 2-3, 9-10, 16-17 and 23-24) from noon – 5:oo PM.
Cristina Medrano is a San Franciscan native and a current student at Lick-Wilmerding High School. She has worked in several mediums, such as charcoal and pencil drawing, painting, mixed media collage, jewelry, digital art, and 2D animation. When she not producing art, Cristina is working at the Exploratorium dissecting cow eyes and hearts. She intends to study the biological and chemical sciences in college, and to continue her art career.
Amanda Landaverde is a 17 year-old student at Lick-Wilmerding High School and lives in Daly City. She has worked with both film and digital photography, digital art, pencil drawing, jewelry, and cinematography. Her favorite film is Requiem for a Dream and her favorite painting is Salvador DalÃ’s “Woman at the Window.†Outside of her art realm, she is currently practicing Muay Thai and applying to several colleges and design schools. She hopes to either go into graphic design or mechanical engineering.
