AWE Gallery Annex September 7 – 29
Meet the artist at her reception, Sunday September 8, from Noon to 4:00 PM.  Katie Ketchum is a musician, song/play write and visionary artist. She will sing original music, dazzle the audience with rockabilly keyboard and introduce you to her paintings.
Katie primarily paints “visions†that appear to her originating from her muse or spiritual entities including the Madonna and Mary Magdalene. Katie is part of a movement called “Contemporary Symbolism,†led by Visionary Artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud. In this sisterhood, the canvas is considered a portal of wisdom from the Sacred Feminine.
Katie’s paintings have recently been featured at the United Nations and herchurch.
Katie studied composition with Dr. Samuel Dolin at the Royal Conservatory of Music and piano with Columbia Recording artist Weldon Kilburn in Toronto, Canada.  She has a Masters Degree in Performing Arts and is a certified music teacher for young children.  In her teens she won many piano and voice competitions sponsored by Her Majesty the Queen of England in Canada. She is a National Endowment for the Arts recipient for her one woman show on the life of Mary Cassatt the American painter and premièred an evening with the Romantic pianist Clara Schumann in the summer of 2010.   Her most popular one woman musical performance is “Magdalene the Musical†which she has presented all across the country and is still in demand!  Ketchum founded a music school 26 years ago that is now part of the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.

The AWE Gallery, at 678 Portola Dr, (next to the purple church), is open every Saturday and Sunday from noon – 5:00 PM. A artist from the coop is always on staff.
